Message from the Chief Executive Officer
Mr. David W. Goodman
I am very pleased to welcome you to our Pharmascience Web site for an understanding of our business and vision to continue the impressive growth of our company.
Allow me to share the story of Pharmascience. The story is unique. It's a classic example of how dreams can turn into reality – of how wanting to "do good for others" can lead to great things. In fact, that was the inspiration and the driving force of its founders – Morris Goodman and Ted Wise.
Both pharmacists, they decided to pool their knowledge, their skills and their desire to "do good for others" and make a difference in the world of healthcare. They started a totally unique pharmaceutical company in Canada – a company that would be dedicated to providing affordable medicines to Canadians.
It was a bold and courageous move – and in 1983, gave birth to Pharmascience. Their courage would be tested immediately. After all, they had no factory, no staff, no product, no distributors, and very little money.
Their only resources lay in their heads, in their hearts, and in their dream. That was all they needed to begin turning their vision into reality.
Today, after 25 years, and with over than 1 300 employees, Pharmascience has emerged as one of the 10 largest pharmaceutical companies in Canada, and the 2nd largest Canadian-owned company. We are proud of the fact that we are recognized as a leader in the development, manufacturing and distribution of generic, innovative, and consumer branded products under our PendoPharm brand. We're also proud of the fact that our products are now sold in over 60 countries. It's a success far greater than the founders had ever imagined.
Most importantly, I am pleased to acknowledge that our success is due in large part to the dedication, the diligence and the caring spirit of our people, who truly believe in "doing good for others".
The dream of our founders has become reality, and today, I am honoured to carry on their rich legacy and pursue their dream of creating the difference.
